This crispy, golden pastry filled with khoya and dry fruits is a festive favourite. If you’re looking for an authentic gujiya recipe, here’s a simple Holi recipe to make mouth-watering gujiya using A2 Desi Cow Ghee for an authentic, rich taste.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (maida)
  • 1/4 cup A2 Desi Cow Ghee
  • Water (as needed to make dough)
  • 1 cup khoya (Mawa), crumbled
  • 1/4 cup grated coconut
  • 1/4 cup chopped cashews
  • 1/4 cup chopped almonds
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  • Ghee for deep frying 

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the dough: In a bowl, mix all-purpose flour and A2 Desi Cow Ghee. Rub the ghee into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs. Gradually add water to knead into a smooth, stiff dough. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest.
  2. Prepare the filling: In a pan, heat crumbled khoya on low heat for 2-3 minutes. Add grated coconut, chopped nuts, powdered sugar, and cardamom powder. Stir the mixture for another 2 minutes. Once combined, remove from heat and allow it to cool.
  3. Shape the gujiya: Divide the dough into small balls and roll each into a thin circle. Place a spoonful of the filling in the centre of each circle. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges tightly to seal, and crimp them using a fork.
  4. Fry the gujiya: Heat oil or A2 Desi Cow Ghee in a deep pan. Once hot, gently drop the gujiyas into the oil and fry until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve: Let the gujiyas cool, then serve these sweet, crispy delights with your loved ones this Holi!
